We planned and executed a large, multi-dog adoption event in the fall of 2016 which enlisted the help of over 150 Volunteers who conducted home-checks across the province, handled the setup and tear-down of the event venue, and managed crowd control and dog care. We also had a team of volunteers in the USA preparing the dogs for transport to Canada. Additionally this year we focused on education of our volunteers and the public. For the volunteers we hosted educational seminars on Dog First Aid and provided many on-the-job training opportunities in the areas of dog handling, fundraising and event planning. To promote our message of dog rescue/adoption to the public, our volunteers made multiple appearances at malls and pet stores to hand out materials, answer questions and concerns, and showcase some of our successful rescue dogs and their new families.
