Services Provided by Cdkl5 Canada
During this year CDKL5 Canada establiched a "Hope4CDKL5 Fund" intended to provide funding specifically for research. In addition, a voluntary "Scientific Advisory Committee" was organized consisting of a clinical geneticist and a pharmacologist for the purpose of directing research proposals. Also organized was the Rare Disease Day Awareness initiative during which presentations have been made at schools in order to educate students to this particular rare disease. In conjunction with this, the Green Ribbon Campaign was launched whereby students wore a green ribbon during the month of February to raise awareness. A Facebook support page was initiated to connect with Canadian families struggling with this disease. Arrangements were made to have 3 major Canadian landmarks illuminated in our chosen colour of lime green to mark the CDKL5 Awareness Day. These included the CN Tower, Niagra Falls and the Peace Bridge. Toronto City Hall also joined in this initiative.
