KTTC primary focus is to operate as a hospital for injured wild turtles. In 2016 the centre also provided education to the community through schools,public events and local festivals. Research is also done on how best to treat injured turtles, "harvest" eggs from females who are "terminal" and hatching those eggs & how best to reintroduce the hatchlings into the wild.
