Find suitable homes for adoptable dogs and cats. 3. Spay and neuter animals before adoption to prevent expanding population. 4. Provide education to the public on animal care, fostering and adoption of pets. 5. Have a "no-kill" policy unless the veterinarian recommends euthanizing the animal for humane reasons. 6. Work with various levels of law enforcement and local agencies to ensure domestic animals are provided humane conditions and suitable adoptive homes are identified. 7. Provide short and long-term care for animals of domestic abuse victims, who often are reluctant to leave without their pets. 8. Work closely with volunteers in the community to provide foster care to animals in need of special care (ie. kittens without mothers, elderly animals, animals who are considered hard to adopt); 9. Work with specialized shelters throughout Alberta to place hard to adopt animals (ie: Pit Bulls, Rottweillers, animals with behavior issues).
