Animal Welfare Charity located in Oakville, ON.
Services Provided by Hobocat Spay / Neuter Project
1. Promote TNR (Trap/Neuter and/or spay/Release) program TNR has been proven to reduce feral cat populations which in City settings are tantamount to abandoned, starving, mistreated felines, by way of sterlizing the animals to prevent pregnancies and increased numbers of these cats. We try to educate people in communities where feral colonies have developed over the years that the cat is not at fault, but rather the people abandoning these animals. We try to convince people to support our efforts for humane treatment of the cats as the colonies will reduce in size and eventually become non-existent without the cruel intervention of starvation and/or killing of the animals. 2. Maintenance of a Cat Colony Together with people in neighbourhoods where feral colonies exist, we set up feeding and care programs, including advising us when an animal is in needs of medical intervention which we arrange with Vets in the City who are willing to treat these cats for reduced medical ees. 3. Adoption Whenever possible if a kitten or recently abandoned cat has been rescued and has not reverted to a feral state we try to find homes for these pets.
