The Northwest Animal Shelter Society operates an animal rescue, rehabilitation and adoption centre to serve Smithers and surrounding areas. Ongoing programs remain unchanged, educating the public about the importance of spaying and neutering pets and the problems associated with pet overpopulation using our website, posters, newsletters, school visits and social media. We continued our low income spay/neuter program that makes the cost of altering pets more affordable to lower income individuals and area rescuers. Also continued to develop a foster program to assist in our rescue activities, and networking with other rescue groups.
