The Trust developed and distributed educational materials to the general public about responsible pet ownership and the humane treatment of parrots, along with the status of parrots in the wild. These materials were delivered through ongoing addition to the website, monthly e-mail campaigns, yearly presentations, at national conferences and periodical written contributions to national and international publications. The trust has undertaken to purchase multiple Blue-throated Macaws with the intent of breeding a small number and eventually releasing all back into their native habitat, where they are a critically endangered species limited to between 115 and 125 known individuals remaining in the wild.
